Driftwood and Glass Beads

My sister has been hunting driftwood recently for a few different projects. She inspired my dad to go and collect some of his own, and he was kind enough to let me have this piece. :)

My oldest really likes to string beads, so we worked together a little at a time over the course of a few weeks to create this suncatcher. She sorted the glass beads into little cups by color over and over...which became the inspiration for our design. Loved watching her work! :) I added some of my lampwork beads and a few collected treasures. It makes me smile!

  1. I am searching for the "Love" button!

  2. I showed these pics to Bethany, asked her if she thought her Mommy would enjoy a suncatcher for her birthday, and she absolutely gasped and cried, "Oh, yes! Yes, she WOULD!!!" Somehow, the homework that usually takes hours took very little time today, and before I could finish drilling all the holes in a piece of driftwood, she was at the studio door, hopping from one foot to another in her excitement to begin!

Thank you so much for this inspiring post-- What a little window into a sparkly world this is for her!

  3. I can't wait to see how it turns out! :)
